Three Individuals Delve into and Discuss
In an exciting turn of events, renowned multi-genre author Wolfgang Schiffer and debut novelist Emily Marie Lara will be guests at the third edition of the "Counter-Reading" event series, organised by Literaturhaus and Insel.
Schiffer, known for his diverse literary works that span short stories, poems, novels, and radio plays, will be presenting his poetry collection titled "I Listen to the Rain" at the event. This collection is one of the books to be discussed during the series.
Schiffer's work includes a wide range of themes, from sharing observations and memories of his childhood to reflecting on war and violence. He also translates Icelandic literature.
Joining Schiffer at the event is Emily Marie Lara, who will present her current debut novel, "Nowhere Heart Land." This coming-of-age story follows an angry and unreliable protagonist in her late twenties and is set in the vicinity of her birthplace, Wuppertal. In 2022, Lara received the promotion prize of the Literatur-Biennale.
The third edition of "Counter-Reading" promises a unique experience as the three guests have read each other's books and will discuss them on stage. Alongside Schiffer and Lara, Dorothee Krings will present her debut novel "Days of Glass," a historical novel set in 1901 against the backdrop of a long strike by the workers of the Gerresheimer glassworks.
