Three individuals apprehended for operating an illicit football betting scheme in Central Surat Thani
Article:
Three youngsters found themselves in hot water after being nabbed for hosting online football gambling dens, primarily luring in novice gamblers, right in the heart of Surat Thai's Muang district.
The governor of Surat Thai, Theeroot Supawibulpol, shared that the arrests took place over the weekend, following the uncovering of two active gambling hotspots teeming with young bettors. The authorities confiscated a total of 38 computers from the offenders.
In one instance, Chanin Klangnarong, aged 26, and Oranit Chaniwet, 20, were apprehended at a two-story building in tambon Bang Kung. There, police discovered 16 computers, 53 payment receipts, and 35,660 baht in cash.
Over at the other location, Patcharin Sapprasert, 26, was taken into custody, along with 16 computers, a photocopier, 250 payment receipts, and 30,190 baht in cash.
Governor Theeroot wasted no time in issuing directives to local officials, urging them to stamp out such gambling dens where the young generation flocked to gamble and even partake in kratom juice consumption.
These clandestine businesses often take a heavy toll on young lives and frequently see the perpetrators SLIP BACK into their nefarious ways post-arrest, as the governor pointed out. In a bid to protect young citizens, the governor encouraged prosecutors to level serious charges against the gambling ring's organizers.
