Three cricketers have been nominated for the ICC Men's Player of the Month award for July 2025. The nominees are Shubman Gill (India), Wiaan Mulder (South Africa), and Ben Stokes (England), each recognised for their outstanding performances in international cricket during the month.

Shubman Gill: India's Consistent Run-Scorer

Shubman Gill showcased his batting prowess during India's tour of England. In three Tests, he scored a total of 567 runs at an exceptional average of 94.50. Gill's key contributions included a double century (269) and a century (131) in the second Test at Birmingham, where he was Player of the Match. He also scored a crucial 103 in the second innings of the Manchester Test, helping India secure a draw and keep the series competitive.

Gill's performance at Edgbaston was particularly noteworthy, where he scored a monumental 269 in the first innings and 161 in the second innings. His combined 430 runs across the two innings is the second-highest tally, next only to Graham Gooch's 456.

Wiaan Mulder: South Africa's All-Rounder Extraordinaire

Wiaan Mulder excelled as an all-rounder on South Africa's tour of Zimbabwe. In just two Tests, he amassed 531 runs at an extraordinary average of 265.60. Mulder's batting highlights include scores of 17 and 147 in the first Test and a monumental 367 not out in the second—the highest individual score ever by a South African.

Mulder also contributed significantly with the ball, taking 7 wickets at an average of 15.28, including a four-wicket haul in the first Test innings.

Ben Stokes: England's All-Round Hero

Ben Stokes delivered crucial performances for England in the home Test series against India. He scored 251 runs at an average of 50.20 and took 12 wickets at 26.33 across three Tests.

Stokes' all-round brilliance was particularly evident in the Manchester Test, where he achieved a match-winning performance by scoring 141 runs and taking a five-wicket haul (5-72). His bowling helped turn the tide in England's favour in the series, often breaking key partnerships.

Stokes' leadership was also crucial in maintaining England's intensity in the series. His performances with both bat and ball were significant in high-pressure situations, earning him Player of the Match honours in two Tests.

The ICC Men's Player of the Month award for July 2025 is a well-deserved recognition for these three cricketers. Voting for the award was open until August 10, 2025.

In light of their exceptional performances, Shubman Gill's consistent run-scoring and Wiaan Mulder's all-round excellence in international cricket in July 2025 have also earned them sports headlines, not just news about cricketers from India and South Africa. Meanwhile, Ben Stokes' all-round heroics and leadership during England's Test series against India also highlighted his contributions to sports history, making a strong case for further opinion pieces on England's talented all-rounder.
