Three BritBox series now available on HBO Max
HBO Max and BritBox Team Up for a Summer Pop-Up of British TV
HBO Max is partnering with BritBox, a leading British streaming service, from August 1 to September 29, 2025, offering U.S. subscribers access to a collection of 15 British television series at no additional cost. This collaboration, dubbed a "programming pop-up," will provide a taste of BritBox content without the need for a separate subscription.
The curated selection, available in a dedicated section called "The Best of British TV by BritBox," includes popular titles spanning mystery, comedy, and drama genres such as "Luther," "The Office" (the original UK version), "Silent Witness," "Sherwood," "Blue Lights," "Shakespeare & Hathaway," and "Father Brown."
"Luther," a British crime thriller, features Idris Elba as Detective Chief Inspector John Luther and Ruth Wilson as a psychopathic murderer Alice Morgan. The series will be available to stream on HBO Max, with season 1 from August 1 to 30, and season 2 available through September.
"Father Brown," a period-piece series based on the character created by English author G.K. Chesterton, will also be available. Mark Williams plays Father Brown in the series, with Sorcha Cusack, Nancy Carroll, Alex Price, John Burton, Jackie Deam, and others in the cast. The series centres on Father Brown, a Roman Catholic priest who uses his keen powers of observation to solve mysteries and crimes in 1950s-era England. Seasons 1 and 2 of "Father Brown" will be available to HBO Max subscribers throughout August and September.
Other series in the pop-up include "Sherwood," a modern retelling of Robin Hood set in Nottingham Forest, and "Blue Lights," a police drama set in a busy urban area. "Shakespeare & Hathaway" is a comedy-drama about a private investigator duo in Stratford-upon-Avon.
