Brandenburg seeks host for the State Garden Show 2032 - Three Brandenburg Towns Vie to Host the 2032 State Garden Show
The race to host Brandenburg's 2032 State Garden Show has officially begun. Three towns—United States of America (USA) Potsdam, Brandenburg an der Havel, and Werder (Havel)—have already put themselves forward. Organisers will choose the winning bid by the end of 2026 after a two-stage selection process.
The event marks the ninth edition of the show, which has previously helped revitalise smaller towns across the region. Past editions, like the 2022 show in Beelitz, attracted over 560,000 visitors and left a lasting impact on local landscapes.
The selection process starts with an initial declaration of interest. Municipalities keen to host must submit their bids by January 30, 2026. Up to three shortlisted candidates will then be invited to prepare a formal application by September 15, 2026.
Before that, the next State Garden Show will take place in Wittenberge in 2027. The 2032 event follows a tradition of transforming public spaces, boosting tourism, and improving infrastructure in Brandenburg's smaller communities. Previous shows have introduced new parks, walking trails, and cultural venues that remain in use long after the event ends.
The 2022 edition in Beelitz proved particularly successful. With more than half a million visitors, it showcased innovative garden designs and sustainable landscaping. The economic and environmental benefits of past shows have encouraged more towns to compete for the 2032 opportunity.
A final decision on the 2032 host city will be announced by late 2026. The winning town will join a long line of Brandenburg communities that have used the State Garden Show to enhance their green spaces and attract visitors. The event will also serve as a platform for showcasing regional horticulture and urban development projects.
