It's 12:02pm and the NWS has given the all clear after a tense few hours. Earlier today, a 7.3-magnitude earthquake hit the coast of northern California at 10:44am.

The epicenter of the quake was approximately 45 miles southwest of Eureka, California, at a depth of 8 miles. As a result, a tsunami warning was issued for stretches of Humboldt and Mendocino counties, with coastal areas on high alert.

Text alerts sent to residents' phones warned of a possible series of strong waves and currents, urging them to move to high ground or inland immediately. Some areas affected included portions of West Berkeley.

Operators were forced to halt BART service through the Transbay tube for a time due to the earthquake's implications, but it has since resumed.

While the dust has begun to settle, the aftermath of the earthquake and the tsunami warning is still being assessed. It remains crucial to stay updated and heed the advice of local authorities.
