In a shocking turn of events, the son of Norwegian Crown Princess Mette-Marit, Marius Borg Høiby, stands accused of multiple heinous crimes, including rape and domestic violence. After a grueling 10-month investigation, the police have presented their findings, and the ball is now in the prosecutor's court.

Following the conclusion of the investigation, the Oslo police have announced a total of 23 suspected criminal offenses against Marius Borg Høiby. The charges, as pronounced, include three counts of rape under the Norwegian rape paragraph[2][4], doubling down on previous allegations of bodily harm and property damage. The double-digit number of alleged victims[2][3][4] involved in this case spans several categories of offenses, ranging from violent and sexual crimes to traffic violations.

Throughout the investigation, additional cases were taken into consideration, after reports were received that led to further investigations[4]. The police conducted a meticulous assessment, interviewing numerous witnesses, executing multiple house searches, and evaluating extensive digital material. Marius Borg Høiby was also interrogated and cooperated with the police.

The charges are severe, encompassing:

  • One count of rape involving sexual intercourse
  • Two counts of rape without sexual intercourse
  • Four counts of indecent behavior
  • One count of domestic violence
  • Two counts of bodily harm
  • One count of property damage
  • One count of threat
  • Five violations of a restraining order
  • One count of insulting a police officer
  • Five traffic offenses

No additional details regarding specific charges will be disclosed by the police[4]. The indictment has now been forwarded to the prosecutor's office in Oslo, which will deliberate on the prosecution and the likelihood of the case proceeding to trial.

Marius Borg Høiby is the eldest son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit from a previous relationship. Although his royal family ties are profound, he does not bear a prince title or perform any official duties as a member of the Norwegian royal house[1][4].

In August 2024, Høiby admitted to instances of violence toward his then-girlfriend under the influence of alcohol and cocaine, as well as the destruction of property in her apartment[1][4]. Initially charged with bodily harm and property damage, he subsequently denied other allegations, including sexual offenses, through his lawyers.

The Norwegian royal house has yet to issue a statement on the unfolding allegations.
