Thousands throng the sizzling street procession in Zurich
The annual Zurich Street Parade, a free techno event held in the heart of Switzerland, once again drew large crowds this year. The theme for this year's event was "Live Love, Love Life".
Held in Zurich, the Street Parade has been a summer tradition since 1992. This year, an estimated hundreds of thousands of people attended the parade, which featured 29 music trucks and DJs performing without charge.
The parade route was adorned with large sprinklers to keep attendees cool as the temperature soared to around 33°C. In addition to the music, the parade offered various services to enhance the experience. Exclusive VIP lounges with catering, private toilets, and premium parade views were available for those who wished to upgrade their experience.
For example, the Sunrise starzone Lounge VIP package offered access to an exclusive lounge from 13:00 to 24:00, their own bar and catering (consumption charged separately), a free welcome drink, and private VIP toilets.
Private parties with open bars, food, live DJ sets, and thematic styling corners were also available, such as the private party at Villa Rosau which offered champagne, fine wines, a surprise show, and prime parade views in an elegant garden setting.
To ensure visitor safety, the city of Zurich provided a drug testing service before the parade. A warning was issued about extremely high-dose ecstasy pills before the event, and medical and rescue services were on site providing treatment for heat-related issues, injuries, and intoxications.
In addition to these services, extended public transport was offered to accommodate visitors. Some attendees chose to cool off in Lake Zurich.
A media portal reported that a luxury hotel moved its bee colonies due to the Street Parade's loud music. Another media portal reported on a tattoo service offered during the parade.
Despite the heat and the occasional disruption, the event was celebrated and danced at by revellers from all over the world. The first Street Parade in 1992 attracted around 1,000 attendees, but this year's event was a testament to its enduring popularity.
