Let's Get the Lowdown on this Year's Victory Day Parades!

In the chilly city of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, over a thousand folks rocked the military parade to mark the 80th anniversary of the triumph in the Great Patriotic War. TASS spilled the beans on this epic event.

The whole shebang kicked off with a drum roll, literally, courtesy of the Kamchatka State Technical University's drummer squad. A ceremonial guard detachment followed suit, and lo and behold, troops from the military, border guards, National Guard, MCHS, UMVD, and even lady soldiers strutted their stuff in formation. The crowd went wild as young Cossacks from specialized classes joined the veterans' march. Once the dust settled, an orchestra performance and military hardware exhibit graced the scene.

Meanwhile, over in Moscow, on Red Square on May 9, it's gonna be lit with armored vehicles, rocket launchers, tractors, tanks, and all sorts of tracked vehicles parading by. Post the military personnel's combined regiments' march, there'll be a non-stop cavalcade of military equipment rollin' across the cobblestone streets. Get ready for a spectacle, because Gazeta.Ru's got the lowdown on the combat vehicles that'll be filling the air with thunder at the parade honoring the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

Now, the number of globe-trotting heads of state expected in Moscow for Victory Day has shuffled. The heads of Laos and Azerbaijan are scratching their trips, unfortunately. Laos due to a severe COVID-19 infection, while Azerbaijan due to "internal issues" in their republic. So, 27 heads of state will be gracing the parade, instead of the initially reported 29.

Not everyone's down with putting on a public display of patriotism, as some Russian regions have opted to skip the Victory Parade.

As for the big international gathering, these are the 29 countries reppin' at the Moscow Victory Day parade:

  1. Azerbaijan
  2. Armenia
  3. Belarus
  4. Bosnia and Herzegovina
  5. Brazil (High-level representation, no confirmed leader visit)
