Ed Sheeran Kicks Off Mathematics Tour in Madrid

English pop sensation Ed Sheeran graced the stage at the Riyadh Air Metropolitan Stadium in Madrid on May 30th and 31st, marking his return to Spain after a six-year absence. The Mathematics Tour, which is gaining worldwide attention, resumed following a brief hiatus with these Spanish performances.

Tickets for the concerts sold out in a mere 60 minutes, demonstrating the unwavering support of Sheeran's dedicated fanbase. As the clock neared the concert start time, the stadium erupted in anticipation, with Macklemore's "Can't hold us" setting the perfect atmosphere. When the countdown reached zero, ecstasy filled the air as Sheeran took to the stage.

Unfortunately, the singer tripped upon stepping onto the stage, but quickly regained his footing. The show must go on, and so it did, with Sheeran ready to conquer Madrid, backed by an impressive two-hour, 15-minute setlist featuring nearly 30 songs spanning his career.

The performance, which started with energetic hits like "Shivers" and progressed through the artist's repertoire, was characterized by dynamic changes between rock and pop genres. Sheeran seamlessly switched between electric and acoustic guitars, delivering both frenetic and sensitive tracks to the eager audience.

During the concert, the singer expressed his gratitude and emotion, confessing, "It's the first Mathematics concert after a long time. Sometimes, I still feel very insecure about the music I release. Moments like this remind me how much I love what I do, how much you connect with these songs, and how much I appreciate you making me feel this emotion that I've lived on stage since I was 11 years old."

To the delight of his fans, Sheeran surprised them with a special guest appearance by Tori Kelly. Together, they sang "I was made for loving you," a song they co-created and which is close to reaching one billion views on Spotify. This was the first time they had performed the song together on stage.

Ed Sheeran also engaged with the audience, interacting with fans and even applauding his band members, showcasing his affection for his fellow musicians. As the concert approached its climax, Sheeran anticipated the fever at the Metropolitano, leading the audience in a scream with the musical hit "Galway girl."

The Mathematics Tour is renowned for its stunning visuals, with LED screens, rotating stages, flames, and a 360-degree view to ensure an unobstructed view for every attendee. Digital effects and filters were used throughout the concert, complementing the music and enhancing the overall experience.

Despite some setbacks, the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium remains silent after the Real Madrid football team experienced a year of bad luck, both on and off the field. The stadium's concerts have been postponed or canceled due to ongoing noise complaints from the surrounding neighborhood, affecting over 240,000 concertgoers.

Ed Sheeran's Mathematics Tour will continue across Europe, with stops in France, Italy, Germany, and other countries. The singer recently announced that his new album, "Play," will be released on September 12, 2025, featuring three songs: 'Old Phone', 'Slowly', and 'Azizam.' He will also release another song, 'Spahire,' on June 5. The tour is expected to continue spreading Sheeran's positive energy and music throughout Europe well into the summer.
