Thousands of BVB fans anticipated for the new season kickoff - DSW21 offers comprehensive programming to cater to the crowd

On August 10, 2025, Borussia Dortmund's season opener promises to be an exciting event, and the city of Dortmund is ensuring that fans have smooth and convenient access to the action. Public transportation is significantly reinforced, particularly the U45 city rail line and bus line 450, to accommodate the expected large crowds.

U45 Line

Additional trains run between 11:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. on the U45 between Fredenbaum and Westfalenhallen. Between 2 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., and after the match ends, trains run every 4 to 5 minutes between Dortmund main station and Westfalenhalle or the stadium. This frequent interval provides excellent service to and from the stadium.

Bus Line 450

This route (Stadium/Westfalenhallen - Schanze or Spissenagelstr.) is increased to run at least every 10 minutes from roughly 10:45 a.m. until about 8:30 p.m., instead of the usual 30-minute intervals on Sundays.

Additional Transport

The Uni-Shuttle and additional electric cars (E-cars) operate from around 2:30 p.m. to facilitate transportation to the stadium.

Moreover, BVB match tickets for the men’s game include a combined public transport ticket valid on all surcharge-free local trains (2nd class), buses, and trains across North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) on the match day for one return journey. This combined ticket applies broadly to local public transport within NRW and covers use on lines such as U45, buses like 450, and other local transit options.

Therefore, if you hold a ticket for the men’s match, you do not need a separate transport ticket for local public transport on that day within NRW.

The U42 city rail line connects locations beyond Fredenbaum, providing another route to the stadium from various parts of the city.
