Unleashing American Resistance: Thousands rally against Trump's Controversial Policies

Steer clear! Hands off, please! - "Thousands of Americans Rally in Protest Against Trump's Controversial Rules"
Stepping up against the establishment, the USA saw a groundswell of demonstrations nationwide, with thousands taking to the streets, furious at Donald Trump's administration. In our nation's capital, Washington D.C., close to the White House at the Washington Monument, several thousand protesters congregated. Additionally, significant protest actions unfolded in numerous other cities, such as New York, Atlanta, Boston, Detroit, and Chicago. Organizers boasted "millions" of attendees at over 1,300 gatherings, although no official numbers were offered.
Various organizations instigated a nationwide day of action and sparked events across all US states under the rallying cry "Hands off." The organizers had initially predicted hundreds of thousands of participants nationwide, but in the end, they claimed that millions had joined the movement, though no solid numbers were reported. The police in the capital, Washington, D.C., for instance, refrained from providing their estimate of participants too. Despite this, photos and videos of large crowds in various locations spread rapidly on social media.
"A budding autocrat," they cry
The signs held aloft in Washington read, "Defend the Constitution," "Remove Trump from Office," "Save the Social System," "Hands off Democracy," and "Stop the coup!" Among the demonstrators in Washington, four women—Trish, Laura, Laurel, and Jacky—stood out. Trish resided in the capital, while Laura, Laurel, and Jacky hailed from North Carolina and Virginia. They viewed current events in the country as a danger. Jacky criticized Trump as a "rising autocrat" who favored cozying up to Russian President Vladimir Putin rather than democratically elected heads of state. "We honor democracy, we honor its rules—and this government is breaking one rule after another," Trish complained. Trump appeared to cast the nation away from its traditional allies.
Resistance was not exclusive to Trump. Technological billionaire Elon Musk became an object of criticism, as many protesters felt he interfered too much in governmental affairs. Despite persistent drizzle, thousands protested in New York against both Trump and Musk—the CEO of Tesla, who frequented the White House. In Bryant Park, demonstrators displayed signs with slogans such as "Unplug Elon" and "I can only write this because there was a Department of Education."
People took to the streets to fight against the dismantling of US agencies, cuts to foreign aid, immigration policies, and everything associated with Trump and his administration.
The Power of One Man, questioned
Since Trump's inauguration, he has initiated vigorous reforms of the state bureaucracy, dismissing federal employees en masse and dismantling multiple agencies. Numerous highly controversial decisions and initiatives have stoked widespread outrage, both domestically and abroad. The Republican has been accused of pursuing migrants and minorities with great vehemence.
On his first day in office, he threatened to "take back" the Panama Canal, by force if necessary. Since then, he has also made claims to Greenland and the Gaza Strip and repeatedly pressured Canada to become part of the USA. Democrats and experts view his course as a grave threat to American democracy.
A Golfing President
Shortly after announcing the controversial new tariff package, Trump departed for an extended golf weekend in Florida, where he participated in a club championship. He was absent from the White House when protesters amassed near the government center, but there were also protests against him in Florida.
Breaking Free from Trump's Grip
In the first weeks of his second term, Trump made decisions at an alarming pace, signing decrees and keeping the world on edge, one controversy after another. Citizens, even members of the Democratic Party, seemed to be in a state of shock for weeks, with hardly any protests.
Now, public opposition to Trump is slowly rearing its head, even within the Democratic Party. Just a few days ago, Democratic Senator Cory Booker gained broad attention with a marathon 25-hour speech against Trump in parliament. Recently, former Democratic U.S. President Barack Obama and Trump's election opponent Kamala Harris finally spoke out critically after a prolonged silence.
