Thousands Gathered with a Joyful Atmosphere
The sixth edition of the LaminatDEPOT Run, held at the BLF Arena, was a resounding success, attracting a large number of sports enthusiasts and setting a new participation record. The event, popular among families, was fully booked for the first time, a testament to its growing popularity.
Kevin Peter, Managing Director of LaminatDEPOT, expressed delight about the event's success and pride in the response. "We are thrilled with the turnout and the enthusiasm shown by our participants," he said.
The runs, held over distances of 400 meters, 800 meters, 5.45 km, and 10 km, saw several notable performances. In the women's fun run, Jessie Jaspers (CCC Chiropraktik) crossed the finish line first in 21:21 minutes, while Renee Bongers (Ayyo Team Essen) won the 10 km main run in a time of 36:08 minutes. In the men's fun run, Jonah van Thiel (Die Gummibaerenbande) finished first in 20:01 minutes. Mareike Eißmann (Fitmacher) achieved a new personal best of 42:47 minutes in the 10 km main run.
The event's success is not only due to the runners but also to the partners who provided the program. Hilfe für Kinder e.V. Velbert, Tafel Niederberg, Hospizverein Niederberg, and Netzwerk e.V. - Förderverein für die Stiftung Mary Ward were among the partners who helped make the day a memorable one.
All proceeds from the event, including entry fees and additional sponsorship funds, will be equally distributed among the partners. The exact amount of the donation will be determined after the accounts are settled, but due to the record number of participants, it is expected to reach a new record.
Looking ahead, the LaminatDEPOT Run is planned to take place for the 7th edition next year. While specific details about the event, such as its date and location, are yet to be announced, one thing is certain: the running event will continue to bring together sports enthusiasts and raise funds for worthy causes.
Football was a popular spectacle among the sports activities, with some participants taking a break from their running routines to cheer on their favorite teams during the television broadcasts. Kevin Peter also announced that his company, LaminatDEPOT, would be sponsoring a local youth football team next season, further contributing to the promotion of sports in the community.
