The Academy of Natural Sciences is hosting Bug Fest, a family-friendly festival filled with activities such as roach racing and expert talks about insects. The event runs from Saturday, 10 a.m.–5 p.m. and Sunday, 10 a.m.–3 p.m. Tickets are $22 for adults and $18 for children (non-members).

Nate Bargatze, known as "the nicest man in stand-up," is headlining two sold-out arena shows in Philly, delivering his trademark clean, observational humor. The performances are on Thursday, Aug. 7, at 8 p.m., Friday, Aug. 8, at 7:30 p.m., 9:45 p.m., and Saturday, Aug. 9, at 7 p.m.
Rob Thomas, frontman of Matchbox Twenty, is performing at The Mann Center on Saturday, Aug. 9, at 7 p.m. Tickets cost $36 and up.
Hip-Hop in the Park is happening at Eakins Oval, featuring performances by local artists. The event is free.

The Super Bowl LIX champion Philadelphia Eagles are returning for the first test on the way to defending their title. The game is on Thursday, Aug. 7, at 7:30 p.m., and the practice is on Sunday, Aug. 10, at 6 p.m. Tickets for the game cost $20 and up, and for the practice cost $10.25.

While Philadelphia hosts a plethora of events, neighbouring areas also have their share of festivities. In New Jersey, the Kenilworth Fire Department Carnival and various festivals such as La Festa Italiana in Jersey City, Dock Road Marlin Fest in Beach Haven, and others start after August 10.
