In the heart of Höxter, a celebration was held in April 2013, serving as a joint tribute to both a personal milestone and significant scholarly contributions. The event was organised on behalf of the management of St.-Nikolai Seniorenhaus, with Bianca Butterwegge, the Director of the Seniorenhaus, taking the lead.
The celebration was a unique fusion, marking the 80th birthday of Professor Peter Nagel, and acknowledging the scholarly collaboration between the British Library and the Coptic Old Testament Project at the Göttingen Academy of Sciences and Humanities. The focus of the event was gratitude, reflection, and personal encounters, as the academic community gathered to honour Professor Nagel's work and the collaborative efforts in projects like the digital edition of the Coptic Holy Week Lectionary.
The highlight of the celebration was the presentation of a Festschrift volume, a testament to the collective respect and appreciation for Professor Nagel's work. This volume symbolised the significance of interdisciplinary research and the honoring of distinguished scholars in the field of biblical manuscript research. The event in Höxter-Brenkhausen was not just a celebration, but a recognition of the importance of academic achievements in the study of Coptic texts and biblical scholarship.
Bianca Butterwegge, in her role as the event's leader, delivered a speech that underscored the importance of such gatherings. The attendees' commitment, spanning over many years, was considered a great gift, adding a personal touch to the scholarly event. The joint celebration in Höxter was a testament to the power of collaboration and the enduring impact of academic endeavours.
