Third round of French Open sees Daniel Altmaier in action.

In Paris, German tennis player Daniel Altmaier has made history by advancing to the third round of the French Open. The 26-year-old triumphed over Czech Vit Kopriva in a hard-fought contest, winning 6-2, 4-6, 6-3, 7-5 after 3 hours and 32 minutes.

In the upcoming match on Friday, Altmaier will face 21-year-old Serbian Hamad Medjedovic. Medjedovic, a quickly ascending talent, currently holds a ranking between #61 and #77 on the ATP tour. Standing 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighing 190 lbs, he has demonstrated strong play in ATP tournaments, albeit with occasional inconsistency on clay courts.

Meanwhile, the French Open journey has concluded for the German women's tennis players. Eva Lys, the last German player standing, lost to Canadian qualifier Victoria Mboko 4-6, 4-6 in the second round.

World No. 3 Alexander Zverev will attempt to join Altmaier in the third round on Thursday, facing Dutch player Jesper de Jong at 11:00 (Eurosport).

Hamad Medjedovic, Altmaier's upcoming opponent, has shown impressive performances in ATP tournaments, reaching the round of 16 at the Conde de Godó tournament. However, he has struggled with consistency on clay courts, notably losing early in Madrid and Rome before his debut at Roland Garros. There is no recorded history of a match between Medjedovic and Altmaier in official ATP or Challenger events as of May 2025.

Sports will be in focus once again on Friday at the French Open, as German tennis player Daniel Altmaier prepares to play a match against rising Serbian talent Hamad Medjedovic. Medjedovic, currently ranked between #61 and #77 on the ATP tour, has shown strong play in ATP tournaments and will aim for consistency on clay courts against Altmaier.
