Third round of French Open sees Daniel Altmaier in action.
In Paris, German tennis player Daniel Altmaier has advanced to the French Open's third round for the first time in his career. The 26-year-old triumphed over Czech Vit Kopriva in a hard-fought battle, securing a 6-2, 4-6, 6-3, 7-5 victory that took 3 hours and 32 minutes. In the upcoming round, Altmaier will face 21-year-old Serbian Hamad Medjedovic on Friday.
Medjedovic, a fast-rising talent from Serbia, was born in Novi Pazar in 2003. He turned professional in 2021 and has since become a formidable force in the tennis world, with comparisons to Novak Djokovic. Notably, Medjedovic won the ATP Next Gen Finals in 2023, significantly boosting his ATP ranking, reaching a high of No. 102 in October 2023, and later climbing to No. 61 by April 2025.
Although there is no documented record of Medjedovic playing against Daniel Altmaier at the French Open, Medjedovic has shown exceptional form in ATP Challenger events and ATP-level tournaments.
Meanwhile, the French Open has concluded for the German women's tennis players. Eva Lys was the last German to exit the tournament, losing to Canadian qualifier Victoria Mboko in the second round, with scores of 4-6, 4-6.
World No. 3 Alexander Zverev has the opportunity to join Altmaier in the third round on Thursday. He will take on Dutch player Jesper de Jong, starting at 11:00 on Eurosport.
Tennis will be the focus for Hamad Medjedovic and Daniel Altmaier in their upcoming match at the French Open, as both players are renowned for their skill on the court. Having won the ATP Next Gen Finals in 2023, Medjedovic, like Novak Djokovic, has emerged as a formidable force in the tennis world and could prove a challenge for Altmaier.
