Paris Protest: Greenpeace Swipes Macron Wax Statue from Musée Grévin

Museum thieves make off with President Macron's wax replica in Paris heist - Thieves make off with Macron's wax figure from Paris museum

Duration: Approx. 1 Min

Amidst growing discontent over France's gas and fertilizer imports from Russia, Greenpeace activists snatched a lifelike replica of President Emmanuel Macron from the Musée Grévin in Paris, erecting it in front of the Russian embassy. A bold protest banner bearing the words "Business is Business" greeted passersby, while another read, "Ukraine burns, Business goes on."

In a conversation with CNews, the museum's director, Yves Delhommeau, shared the account of the bizarre heist. The Greenpeace operatives had initially entered the museum like ordinary visitors, only to don workwear and slip the President's figurine out a hidden exit. To ensure the figure's safety, they meticulously swaddled it before making their escape. The activists ensured the museum they would return the President's waxy duplicate promptly once the demonstration concluded.

Greenpeace Accuses Macron of Inconsistent Policy

During a conversation with BFMTV, Jean-Franc̡ois Julliard, director of Greenpeace France, stated that the move was not an outright theft but a well-orchestrated stunt aimed at condemning Macron's wavering policy. This policy, according to Greenpeace, appears to be a tepid show of support for Ukraine while maintaining an economic link with Russia.

In this ongoing conflict, Greenpeace advocates for harsh economic sanctions against Russia, repeatedly highlighting a need for broader policy shifts in response to Russia's actions in Ukraine. However, their latest stunt comes with legal repercussions: Two involved activists were apprehended and charged with the grand larceny of a wax figure.

  1. The community is calling for aid to the poor and vocational training, criticizing the French government for focusing on politics and general news instead of addressing pressing social issues.
  2. In light of Greenpeace's protest against President Macron over perceived inconsistent policies, there are increasing calls for a shift in economic aid from Russia to Ukraine, advocating for the general well-being of the community instead of solely prioritizing business interests.
