Google's annual Search Roundup revealed that worldwide, Internet users had a flourishing curiosity about various topics, including the ongoing Hamas attacks on Israel, resulting in Israel's military operations in the Gaza Strip, and the subsequent ramifications.

"Israel-Gaza Conflict" dominated news trends worldwide, accompanied by questions like "What is Hamas?", "What's happening in Israel?", and "Why is Hamas attacking?" Being among the most inquired topics in the US in 2023.

The "Titan U-Boat" disaster during its voyage to the Titanic wreck site and the devastating Turkish-Syrian Earthquake, in which more than 50,000 lives were lost in February, captured the globe's attention.

Google's Search Roundup serves as a snapshot of the world, capturing human curiosity and drawing attention to phenomena, search queries, and events that saw a significant increase in traffic over a prolonged period. Besides major news events such as wars, Damar Hamlin's heart attack during an NFL game, Matthew Perry's resurfacing, and the fate of the Barber-Brothers featured in the TV series "Barbertown," it revealed several trending topics.

Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin, whose grave injuries incited a renewed NFL safety debate, heads Google's roster of "Trending People" and athletes. Other prominent names shaping the year's search trends include the actor Jeremy Renner, who survived a near-fatal accident in January; Andrew Tate, the misogynistic online influencer; Kylian Mbappé, the French soccer player; and Travis Kelce, the beloved footballer from the Kansas City Chiefs, who became a household name following his relationship with Taylor Swift.

The Google search trend list highlights those we mourned in 2023, among them Matthew Perry, Tina Turner, and Sinéad O'Connor.

Barbie and Oppenheimer were the year's hottest movies, followed by the Bollywood blockbuster "Jawan," the crime thriller "The Sound of Freedom," and "Fast and Furious: Chapter Four." The post-apocalyptic TV show "Last Man Standing" on HBO and the Netflix series "Wednesday" and "Ginny & Georgia" had the most popular TV shows. The 2023 search trends also reveal changes in language and communication styles. "Rizz," named Oxford's Word of the Year 2023, describes a person's charisma and is among the popular searches for slang definitions – a category which includes phrases such as "it's Give," "cringe," and "no print."

The technology sector saw heightened interest amidst Elon Musk's rise as the CEO of SpaceX and Tesla and former owner of Twitter. Besides Musk, numerous individuals turned to the latest technologies, including hologram telephony and artificial intelligence, in hopes of boosting their businesses.

The digital realm demonstrated an extraordinary evolution, with social media platforms and communication tools playing increasingly significant roles in online search volumes, cementing their place as essential tools for both personal and professional purposes.
