Commemorative festivities unfold beneath a grand circus tent for the 30th anniversary of German Reunification - Theater tent celebration marking the 35th anniversary of German reunification
Marking the 35th anniversary of German Unity Day, Minister President Manuela Schwesig has invited the public to join a celebration in Schwerin, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, on October 1st at the Mecklenburg State Theater tent.
Last year, the nationwide central celebrations for German Unity Day took place in Schwerin, with an estimated 200,000 people in attendance. This year, the central celebrations for German Unity Day 2024 will also be organised in Schwerin, with Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR) involved in the event programming, including JULI, experience areas, and children's programs.
In addition to invited guests, 50 citizens can also register their interest for the celebration, as announced by the State Chancellery.
Minister President Schwesig expressed pride in the contributions made by eastern German states to united Germany. She believes that Mecklenburg-Vorpommern has developed well over the past 35 years, becoming more economically robust and attractive.
Schwesig also acknowledged the economic and wage challenges still faced by eastern German states. However, she emphasised that Mecklenburg-Vorpommern has become more beautiful over the past 35 years, with its development being a point of pride.
The celebration will also commemorate the 35th anniversary of the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The public is encouraged to join in the festivities and celebrate the progress and achievements of the region over the past three and a half decades.
