"Theater season commences with the performance of "Romeo and Juliet"
On Tuesday, September 23, 2025, the Cultural Department of Nordhorn will open its new season with a performance of 'Romeo and Juliet' by the Shakespeare Company Berlin at the Concert and Theater Hall. This tragic love story by William Shakespeare, considered one of the most significant love tragedies in world literature, offers a contemporary take on the classic play.
'Romeo and Juliet' is not just a museum piece but a relevant and thought-provoking event. The production by the Shakespeare Company Berlin does not rely solely on romantic clichés but consciously works out breaks and contrasts in the tension field between love and hate, tenderness and violence, chance and fate. Music and stage work will be skillfully integrated to make emotions visible and audible in the performance.
The story revolves around two young people, Romeo and Juliet, who fall in love despite their families, the Montagues and Capulets, being in deep hatred towards each other. This timeless tale raises questions about guilt and responsibility, the power of hope, and the harshness of reality.
Tickets for the performance can be purchased from 23 euros at Reservix advance sale points and online at www.reservix.de. The audience is encouraged to engage a cultural companion through MOKU if they have limited mobility or are senior citizens. MOKU stands for 'Mobile Cultural Accompaniment' and is an initiative of the Stabstelle for Engagement Promotion & Social Participation of the Landkreis Grafschaft Bentheim.
