Hesse residents, brace yourselves for chilly weather ahead! The German Weather Service (DWD) in Offenbach has filled us in on the impending weather patterns. On Friday, Hesse will be surrounded by clouds to overcast skies, with a chance of light snowfall south of the Main. The mercury is expected to fluctuate between -2°C and +2°C during the day, and plunge to -3°C in the mountains.

Move on to Saturday, and it looks like some light snowfall could descend south of the Main once again. However, most areas will remain dry. Keep your eyes peeled for treacherous icy spots, as temperatures will hover between -3°C and -7°C, increasing the likelihood of icy roads. The sky will stay gray, and temperatures will keep the frost bite at bay, with minus three to minus one degrees.

Now, if you're a winter sports enthusiast heading to the mountainous regions in Hesse over the weekend, heed this word of caution: slippery surfaces are likely due to the less-than-favorable temperatures.

As for our fellow mainland Hesse residents, you might be in for milder weather compared to your mountain-dwelling neighbors. But remember, in the mountainous areas near the Main river, the weather gods can be merciless. They've issued a warning for icy conditions, so be extra careful while navigating these areas, particularly along the Main river.

On a side note, Cyclone Max is sweeping through northern and eastern Germany, including Hesse, bringing snowfall and potentially making roads even more treacherous. Public service strikes could also pose a problem in certain areas, so keep that in mind while you're planning your weekend activities.
