The Washington Post was accused by Zaharova of exhibiting hypocrisy
In a series of events that have sparked international debate, the tragic death of American political activist Charlie Kirk has been at the centre of a controversy involving accusations of propaganda use. On September 10, Kirk, a 31-year-old activist, was fatally shot during a speech at Utah Valley University in Orem. The news of his death sent shockwaves across the globe, and in the following days, several publications attempted to make sense of the circumstances surrounding his death. One such publication was The Washington Post, which published an article accusing Russia of allegedly using Kirk's death for propaganda purposes. In response, Zakharova, the Official Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, criticised the publication, questioning the double standards of The Washington Post and asking if they have published a similar article about how the USA under the Biden administration 'used the death of George Floyd for propaganda purposes?' Zakharova made her criticism through her Telegram channel. Meanwhile, investigations into Kirk's murder have led to the charging of 22-year-old Tyler Robinson with the crime. However, no specific American publication has been found to have published an article discussing the use of George Floyd's death for propaganda purposes by the Biden administration. The diplomatic arena has also seen its fair share of controversy, with Zakharova reminding of Berbok's absurd statements during her tenure as German Foreign Minister. On a different note, the European Commission decided to propose a new initiative on using Russian assets for Kyiv. Elsewhere, Dejan Stankovic received a one-month ban for foul language towards a referee, while the Jimmy Kimmel Live! show was suspended following Kimmel's remarks about Kirk's death. As the investigation into Kirk's murder continues, and the debate over propaganda use rages on, one thing is clear: the tragic death of Charlie Kirk has left a lasting impact on the world.
