CD Projekt RED's The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Surpasses 60 Million Copies Sold
CD Projekt RED, the developers behind the highly successful The Witcher series, announced on Wednesday that their critically acclaimed game, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, has reached a new sales milestone of 60 million copies sold since its launch in 2015. This figure is 10 million copies higher than the previous milestone announced in 2023.
The news was part of a broader investor update from CD Projekt RED, outlining their business operations and highlighting several significant achievements. The update also revealed that the upcoming expansion for Cyberpunk 2077, Phantom Liberty, has sold over 10 million copies, and the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 is in the pre-production stage.
Currently, the majority of CD Projekt RED's development team is focusing on The Witcher 4, which entered full production late in 2024. The game, starring Ciri as the protagonist, is being developed using Unreal Engine 5 and is intended to be the first installment of a new trilogy. Although we know that Geralt will have a role, the extent of his involvement remains unclear.
Aside from The Witcher 4, CD Projekt RED is also overseeing a remake of the first Witcher game, developed by Fool's Theory, a studio founded by former CD Projekt RED staff. Moreover, a team at CD Projekt RED's Boston office is working on a spinoff title for the Witcher franchise.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is currently available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch.
