The substantial sum of 700,000 euros raises questions about TuS Erndtebrück's intention to procure a massive hill.
The sports facility expansion project at Pulverwald, spearheaded by TuS Erndtebrück, is making significant strides. The project, scheduled for completion by mid to late September, aims to enhance the sports infrastructure in the region, catering to both competitive and recreational activities.
The project's estimated cost is around 2.7 million euros, with funding from the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. The expansion includes a Finnbahn - a versatile running track, a mini playing field, a small football field, and a new long jump facility with two long runways.
The municipality of Erndtebrück is investing 60,000 euros into the Finnbahn project, with an additional 42,000 euros in funding. LEADER, a rural development programme, is providing 250,000 euros for the project. The required own funds for the Finnbahn project have been accounted for in the budget for 2025 at 30 percent.
The project will also benefit schools and the military with expanded opportunities for outdoor physical education and training. A recreational sports facility is being created, with over 400 volunteer hours already invested in the work, and an additional 400 hours expected for paving work.
The space for a children's climbing play area is already fully modeled and landscaped, with plans to follow the current LEADER project in the near future. The long jump facility will also benefit the track and field athletes of TuS Erndtebrück.
However, some elements are still missing for protection against wildlife, such as ball stop fences, posts, nets, bands, and a fence around the entire area. Despite these remaining requirements, the project is being implemented by construction companies, with the support of committed sponsors and voluntary work by TuS members.
The ultimate goal of this expansion is to create a regional sports hub, providing advanced training opportunities and accommodating a wider range of sports events. This will foster sports development in the broader community, benefiting all people in the region.
