In the heart of bustling Hanover, a chilling incident occurred

Hanover - This vibrant city street is a popular path for locals and visitors heading to the old town's clubs. The Leibnizufer, adjacent to Friederikenufer, is where an unsettling event took place a year ago.

The alleged rape occurred on this serene Leibnizufer-Vicinity

Ferhat Ö., a 22-year-old defendant, currently faces trial for allegedly attacking a woman on this very spot. According to indictments, after visiting a club, Ö. is accused of forcing 37-year-old Ebru L. (name changed) into a secluded area and attacking her.

Public prosecutors in Hanover claimed that Ö. overpowered the frightened woman, forcibly removing her clothes and threatening to throw her into water and kill her if she resisted. They further challenged that Ö. engaged in sexual intercourse and oral sex, leaving the victim bruised and humiliated.

A shocking detail emerged: Ö. recorded a cell phone video during the assault. In it, he allegedly asked the victim to praise his genitals and demeaned her using foul language in Kurdish. As Ebru L. attempted to escape, Ö. purportedly threatened to torture her all night.

Questioning his account, Ö. claimed to have been intoxicated in both incidents. According to him, he had no recollection of the oral sex. DNA traces, however, disputed his claim. The report demonstrated traces of Ö.'s semen in Ebru L.'s mouth, indicting him further.

The subsequent trial remains in progress.
