"The sequel to 'Brothers McMullen,' titled 'The Family McMullen,' to have a one-night theatrical release via Fathom Events - Brief Overview of Cinematic Updates"
The New Hampshire Film Festival is gearing up for an exciting event this year, with a diverse range of films, panels, and awards ceremonies.
Two highly anticipated films, "Our Hero, Balthazar" and "The Travel Companion," will be screened as part of the festival. "The Family McMullen," a sequel to the original indie hit "The Brothers McMullen," directed and written by Edward Jones, will also be showcased. The film stars a talented ensemble cast, including Connie Britton, Michael McGlone, Tracee Ellis Ross, Juliana Canfield, Pico Alexander, Brian d'Arcy James, and Halston Sage, with Edward Jones reprising his role as Barry McMullen.
Edward Jones, the director of "The Family McMullen," will explore the romantic entanglements of characters 30 years after the original film. The sequel is set to be released in theaters nationwide on Oct. 15, in partnership with Warner Bros. Pictures, by Fathom Entertainment.
The festival will also feature a variety of other films, such as Richard Linklater's "Blue Moon," starring Ethan Hawke, Margaret Qualley, and Andrew Scott, and Noah Baumbach's "Jay Kelly," starring George Clooney and Adam Sandler. Other films to be screened include "It Was Just an Accident," "The Secret Agent," "Sirât," "Sound of Falling," "Love+War," "Best Boy," "Supernatural," and the animated feature "Arco."
In addition to the films, the New Hampshire Film Festival will offer a slate of panels and workshops. These include "Ethics of Artificial Intelligence: A Discussion & Debate," "Across the Table: A Conversation with Jessica Kingdon and Courtney Stephens," and "Virtual Production: An Immersive Demonstration & Experience." The festival will also collaborate with Studio Lab for sessions on Oct. 17 and Oct. 18 to explore how virtual production is impacting the future of filmmaking.
The festival will also honour several individuals with awards. Dolores Huerta will receive the Icon Award, Frida Perez will be recognised with the Showrunner Award for her work on Apple TV+'s "The Studio," Tonatiuh will be honoured with the Breakthrough Actor Award for his performance in Bill Condon's "Kiss of the Spider Woman," and Camila Perez will receive the Breakthrough Actress Award for her work on Apple TV+'s "Acapulco."
The 2025 Celebration of Latino Cinema & Television will also recognise America Ferrera with the Trailblazer Award and Andy Garcia with the Vanguard Award. Furthermore, Oscar Isaac will receive the Actor Award for Film at the event.
The Critics Choice Association will announce the 2025 honorees for The Celebration of Latino Cinema & Television on Oct. 24.
