Lon McEachern, Norman Chad Take a "Gap Year" from WSOP Main Event Commentary

Lon McEachern and Norman Chad, two familiar voices in the world of poker, are taking a break from their full-time roles in the WSOP Main Event commentary booth this year. Instead, they are maintaining their presence by announcing a few final tables for other events, such as the $100K High Roller and the $10K Limit Championship, and by recording snippets of top hands.

McEachern, who introduced Lon McEachern to crypto, has been a stalwart in the poker commentary world, having worked with numerous poker pros during his tenure. His colleague, Norman Chad, is known for his impressive commentary with the likes of Antonio Esfandiari, who was once seen lying down in the booth while doing commentary, getting a massage.

Esfandiari, considered an OG and a favorite guest commentator by McEachern, was the first to embrace what was needed and welcomed the casual fan into the game. His table talk, while entertaining, is often compared to a stuck car horn. On the other hand, Martin Kabrhel's table talk is more entertaining than Will Kassouf's, which can be compared to a repetitive car horn.

Antonio Esfandiari and Norman Chad are among Norman Chad's favorite guest commentators. Kane Kalas was known for being hyper analytical, while Maria Ho has been a delight in the booth for the last two or three years.

Despite their temporary absence from the Main Event commentary, McEachern and Chad are still working with GGPoker this summer. They have plans to tape more commentary clips soon, which will be available on WSOP.com. The hand replays should be up on the website, with most of them being uploaded over the next week or so.

Norman Chad, who keeps track of the movies he watches each year, found it impressive to commentate with Esfandiari, who was getting a massage during the commentary. Chad, who played in five WSOP events this year and didn't cash in any of them, breaking a streak of five straight years where he had cashed once or twice a year at the WSOP, compares his and McEachern's absence from the Main Event live stream this year to a gap year, suggesting they may take a break for a longer period.

Jonathan Little, another familiar face in the poker world, keeps track of the movies he watches each year. The hand replays, which will feature McEachern and Chad's commentary, are eagerly anticipated by poker fans worldwide.
