The Real-life Hauntings Behind the 'Conjuring' Films
The Warrens, renowned paranormal investigators, established the New England Society for Psychic Research in 1952. Their work inspired the 'Conjuring' film series, with real-life cases including the Hodgson family in England and the Perron family in Rhode Island.
In the late 1970s, the Hodgson family in England reported terrifying experiences in their home. Furniture moved on its own, objects flew around, and strange noises echoed through the house. The Warrens, Ed and Lorraine, investigated and found evidence of demonic activity. The hauntings spontaneously ended after two years.
Meanwhile, in 1971, the Perron family in Rhode Island moved into a farmhouse plagued by mysterious noises, odd smells, and missing objects. They believed the spirit of Bathsheba, a real Satanist who once lived there, was tormenting them. During a séance led by Lorraine Warren, Carolyn Perron became possessed and spoke in a demonic voice and tongue. The family remained in the house until the 1980s, when the hauntings finally ceased.
The Warrens' investigations into the Hodgson and Perron families inspired the 'Conjuring' films. Despite the terrifying experiences, both families remained in their haunted homes for years before the supernatural activity stopped, leaving no explanation behind.
