The Punisher, portrayed by Frank Castle, returns with brutal vengeance.

Following his television debut earlier this year, Marvel's ruthless antihero, the Punisher, is set to make a comeback in the comic book realm. The five-issue miniseries, titled "Punisher: Red Band," will be penned by Ben Percy, known for his work on "Wolverine," alongside Julius Ohta, who has previously worked on "Iron Man."

The return of Frank Castle finds him back in New York City, divorced from his wife and without any memories of his past life. Despite his amnesia, Castle's proficiency in doling out brutal justice remains intact, making him a force to be reckoned with. The series promises a high level of explicit content, warranting its "Red Band" label, signifying a move away from the usual comic book standards.

In a statement, Percy expressed his excitement about working on this project, stating, "Punisher is one of my favorite characters, and I've longed to write a series featuring him for a very long time. I intend to delve deep into the genre of hair-raising psychopaths and deliver a gritty, blood-soaked, and psychologically intense narrative."

Throughout his history, the Punisher has been a character Marvel has struggled to find a steadfast direction for. Some of this indecision stems from the timing of his Netflix series following mass shootings, while other conflicts have arisen due to the co-optation of his symbol by law enforcement agencies. The upcoming series, "Daredevil: Born Again," tackled this issue head-on in its first season by having Castle eliminating Punisher-identifying officers and condemning their actions.

"Punisher: Red Band" is slated to hit stands on September 10. For more Marvel, Star Wars, Star Trek, DC Universe, and Doctor Who updates, visit our website.
