The Punisher, aka Frank Castle, returns to his lethal vigilantism

In September, Marvel's notorious vigilante, Frank Castle, aka the Punisher, makes a comeback to the comic book world. The antihero will star in the five-issue miniseries titled "Punisher: Red Band," co-written by Ben Percy and illustrated by Julius Ohta.

Following his last appearance in 2023, during which he seized control of the Hand ninja cult, discovered his wife was alive, and faced a divorce, Frank Castle is now back in New York, bereft of his past memories but still adept at shaping life-taking outcomes. As hinted by the "Red Band" label, the miniseries will feature more graphic content than usual.

Ben Percy, writer of the series, expressed his excitement about working on the project, stating, "I've always been a fan of Frank Castle, and I've been eager to write this series for a long time. I plan to explore the darker aspects of my favorite genre - unhinged aggression - creating a raw and violent experience for readers."

Marvel has faced challenges in dealing with Frank Castle's character. Some of this may be attributed to the timing of a character wielding a gun on their Netflix series, following mass shootings, or due to the appropriation of the Punisher symbol by law enforcement. The Netflix series "Daredevil: Born Again" touched upon this last point when Frank Castle killed a group of Punisher-themed police officers during its first season.

Readers can follow Frank Castle's latest exploits in "Punisher: Red Band" when it releases on September 10, 2025.

Marvel enthusiasts can also look forward to upcoming launches for Marvel, Star Wars, and Star Trek, updates on the DC Universe's film and TV projects, and news about the future of Doctor Who. [1][2][3][4][5]
