The Process of Municipal and Council Elections Unfold
In the city of Bergisch Gladbach, several important elections are taking place on September 28, 2025. Here's what you need to know.
The mayoral race will be a runoff between Alexander Felsch (CDU/FDP) and Marcel Kreutz (SPD/Green). Meanwhile, the Landrat position in the district of Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis is also going to a runoff, with Arne von Boetticher (CDU) and Robert Winkels competing.
If you've requested mail-in voting, you won't be able to vote at the direct voting office or your regular polling station. Mail-in voting materials will be sent automatically to those who requested it. First-time mail-in voters can apply online, via email, or by post. Mail-in voting permits will be issued until 3 PM on September 26. To inquire about your mail-in voting status, contact the voting office at 02202 / 14 2888 or email [email protected].
Voting for the runoff will follow the same procedure as the first round. On election day, voters can vote at their usual polling station with a voting notification or personal ID. The direct voting office of the city of Bergisch Gladbach will be open from September 22 to September 28 for runoff voting. A voting permit or personal ID is sufficient for voting at the direct voting office.
The city is seeking poll workers for the runoff election and its counting; registration can be done at [email protected] or 02202 / 14 2414.
A debate with the mayoral candidates for the runoff will take place on Saturday at 12 PM at the Schlosstreppe in Bensberg's Schlossstraße.
Remember, the voting notifications will not be sent for the runoff, and it will be based on the same voter registry as the main election.
