The process of mayoral and council elections takes place in this manner.
Bergisch Gladbach and the district of Daher are gearing up for a runoff election on September 28, with the positions of Mayor and County Commissioner at stake.
In the first round of voting, no clear winner emerged for either position. For the Mayoral race, Alexander Felsch (CDU/FDP) and Marcel Kreutz (SPD/Green) will face each other in the runoff. Arne von Boetticher (CDU) and Robert Winkels (SPD) will square off for the County Commissioner position.
Voters who applied online for their voting permits should have received a confirmation email with the subject "Your application for the issuance of a voting permit." For those who haven't, it's advisable to contact the voting office at 02202 / 14 2888 or email [email protected].
If you wish to vote by mail, you can still apply until September 26, 15:00. Mail-in voting applicants who have checked the box on the form will automatically receive their voting materials by mail. If you're unsure about your application status, you can check by contacting the voting office with your name, address, and date of birth.
For those who prefer not to rely on the postal service, the direct voting office of the city of Bergisch Gladbach will be open from September 22 to September 28 for in-person voting. A voting permit or a personal ID is sufficient for voting at the direct voting office.
It's important to note that if you have requested mail-in voting, you will be blocked from voting at the direct voting office or the polling station to prevent double voting.
The city is still looking for poll workers for the runoff election and its counting. If you're interested, sign up at [email protected] or 02202 / 14 2414.
A debate featuring the mayoral candidates, Alexander Felsch and Marcel Kreutz, will take place on Saturday at 12 PM at the castle steps in the Schlossstraße in Bensberg.
On election day, you can vote at your usual polling station with your voting notice or ID card. New voting notifications will not be sent for the runoff election.
Remember, your vote counts! Make sure to exercise your right to vote on September 28.
