Grand Theft Auto 6 Shines Spotlight on a Resurging Pointer Sisters Hit: "Hot Together"

Pointer Sisters' Hit Track Gains Traction on Spotify - The Pointer Sisters' Music Headlines Arrival on Spotify

Mark your calendars and grab your controllers, Grand Theft Auto 6 is on its way, and so is a significant comeback for the Pointer Sisters' 1986 gem, "Hot Together". We've been seeing some serious revival in this track since the latest trailer dropped for the highly anticipated gaming blockbuster, causing quite the stir on Spotify.

You might already be familiar with the Pointer Sisters' timeless hits "Jump (For My Love)" or "I'm So Excited". However, thanks to the slick and snazzy new trailer for GTA 6, it seems that "Hot Together" is making its long-awaited resurgence onto the music streaming scene.

If you haven’t seen the trailer yet (where have you been?!), it's been skyrocketing across various platforms since Wednesday. In just a few hours, some sources have reported a whopping 182,000% increase in plays for "Hot Together" on Spotify alone. That's not a typo!

IGN, one of the world's leading video game websites, chimed in, noting that "Grand Theft Auto" has always been a cultural phenom that swaggers through the mainstream like few others. Its knack for integrating killer tunes into the franchise has been a staple since day one, making it a pleasure to see both new and seasoned fans embracing a classic bop like "Hot Together".

Regrettably, the originals – June, Bonnie, and Anita – are no longer here to bask in this unexpected success. June passed away in 2006, followed by Bonnie and Anita in 2020 and 2022, respectively. However, Ruth, the oldest of the four sisters, is still grooving and giving the Pointer Sisters life since 1972. She's currently performing alongside her daughter Issa and great-niece Sadako Pointer Johnson, keeping the family tradition alive and vibrant.

GTA 6 Sets the Record Straight for the Video Game World

The gaming world has been buzzing since the release of the Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer by developer studio Rockstar Games. A record-breaking 85 million views on YouTube alone (as of May 8, 12 pm) speak volumes about the hype this sequel is generating. When you add up the views across all platforms, you're looking at a grand total of approximately 500 million!

Even with the recent setback of a delayed release, the hype for this new installment of the sprawling open-world game series remains relentless. Despite – or maybe because of – the new target date of May 26, 2026 (sorry gamers, we'll have to wait a bit longer), the anticipation just keeps building.

While you're waiting for that elusive drop, there's no harm in cranking up "Hot Together" on your Spotify playlist and getting into that GTA vibe!
