"The place exudes intrigue"

Düsseldorf, Germany, has expressed its interest in hosting the International Broadcasting Centre (IBC) for UEFA Euro 2024. The German Football Association (DFB) and UEFA are currently searching for a location for this crucial media hub, and Düsseldorf is one of five cities bidding for the role.

Mayor Thomas Geisel emphasised Düsseldorf's ability to handle large events with numerous media representatives, citing the city's successful organisation of the Grand Départ of the Tour de France and the well-received Europa League final. The Böhlerwerke location, with its historical yet modern halls, has caught the eye of Philipp Lahm, CEO of DFB Euro GmbH, who finds it particularly appealing.

Lahm was joined by Martin Kallen, the CEO of UEFA Events SA, during a visit to the Böhlerwerke in Lörick. Kallen appreciated the preparations made and found the work being done in Düsseldorf satisfactory. Georg Broich, an event company owner, guided the delegation through the event halls, showcasing Düsseldorf's readiness to host the IBC.

However, the other four candidate cities for the IBC in Euro 2024 have not been explicitly listed in the provided search results. Representatives of the DFB and UEFA will visit these cities in the coming weeks to assess their suitability for the role.

Düsseldorf's openness and welcoming attitude towards visitors, coupled with its reputation as a major media city, make it a strong contender for the IBC. A decision on the location is expected later this year.

The UEFA Euro 2024 is the European Championship scheduled to take place in Germany, and the IBC will play a vital role in broadcasting this exciting event to millions of viewers around the world. With Düsseldorf expressing its keen interest and preparing diligently, the city could well become the hub of UEFA Euro 2024's media operations.
