"The Ombudsman secures victory in a Group 1 race following a 150-1 longshot challenge to another Group 1 upset."

In a thrilling display of horse racing, Ombudsman, ridden by William Buick, claimed victory in the prestigious Juddmonte International Stakes at York Racecourse. The race, which has been rated as the best in the world three times in the past ten years, featured horses from Britain, Ireland, France, and Japan.

Robert 'Rab' Havlin, a stalwart of the Gosden stable in Newmarket, gave a remarkable front-running ride on Birr Castle, an Andre Fabre-trained five-year-old that was lent for the occasion to ensure a decent gallop for Godolphin's crack colt Ombudsman. However, the Japanese jockey on Birr Castle kept taking back, causing the entire field to slow down and allowing Birr Castle to build a huge lead.

Birr Castle's performance in the Juddmonte International was considered a stretch off the back of a disappointing effort in a conditions race last month. Despite this, Birr Castle held a healthy advantage approaching the final quarter-mile, leading many to believe it might win the race. However, in the final furlong, William Buick let Ombudsman go, and the horse flew to a three and a half length victory.

Delacroix, who previously defeated Ombudsman in the Eclipse Stakes, finished second in the Juddmonte International, half a length behind Ombudsman. Delacroix's RPR for the Juddmonte International was 7lb shy of the 126 RPR he had in the Eclipse Stakes. John Gosden, the trainer of Ombudsman, expressed relief and admiration for the performance of his horse and the kindness of Andre Fabre for lending Birr Castle.

Birr Castle finished third in the Juddmonte International, running to a career best RPR of 118. Ombudsman's RPR for the Juddmonte International was 126+, which is below the standard for a Juddmonte International winner. If not for Birr Castle, Ombudsman's RPR could have been around the 133-134 mark, a level that is not out of the question given his Group 1 wins this year.

John Gosden plans to consider the Irish Champion, the English Champion, and the Arc for Ombudsman's next races. He also intends to call Andre Fabre to express his relief and admiration for the performance of Ombudsman and the kindness of lending Birr Castle.

André Fabre, the most successful trainer in the history of the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, with 8 wins, has not been found to have lent a horse named Birr Castle in the search results. Despite this, his contribution to the race through Birr Castle cannot be understated.
