The stage is set for an exciting Supercup match between DFB Cup winners VfB Stuttgart and German champions FC Bayern Munich, scheduled for Saturday at 8:30 PM. The match will be broadcast on Sat.1 and Sky.

The transfer negotiations between Nick Woltemade and VfB Stuttgart, and Bayern Munich, however, remain at an impasse. Stuttgart has firmly refused Bayern's offers and set a high valuation for Woltemade, reportedly around €75 million, which Bayern has not met, offering just over €60 million instead [2]. Stuttgart's CEO Alexander Wehrle has publicly declared the case closed, emphasizing Woltemade remains their player this season [2].

Despite this, Woltemade and his agent remain hopeful for a move to Bayern before the 2025 summer transfer deadline. Woltemade has not made plans to sign a contract extension with Stuttgart beyond 2028, signaling his desire to leave and dissatisfaction with Stuttgart’s negotiation approach [4][5]. Reports indicate Woltemade will push for a Bayern transfer up to the last moment on Deadline Day, but if no agreement is reached, a move in 2026 remains likely [3].

Bayern Munich, meanwhile, is missing key players in their attacking department. Jamal Musiala is out for months, and Kingsley Coman has left Bayern for Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia for a high salary. However, Harry Kane, Michael Olise, and Luis Díaz are excellently staffed in Bayern Munich's offensive places. Serge Gnabry is expected to complete the attacking quartet in the Supercup.

Bayern Munich is under significant title pressure in Vincent Kompany's second year, more than Sebastian Hoeneß experienced in his third VfB season. The Supercup could serve as an indicator for the upcoming season.

In Stuttgart, Hoeneß has praised the top scorer of the recent U21 EM as "a very important building block" in the Stuttgart cup-winning team. Lennart Karl, a promising young player, also hopes for his chance.

Despite the ongoing transfer saga, Freund has stated that Bayern Munich does not want to make the situation any bigger. Woltemade's side has condemned the behavior of the VfB bosses as "market-distorting." The Supercup deadline set by CEO Alexander Wehrle has been described as "questionable" by Woltemade's advisor.

As of late August 2025, Stuttgart refuses to sell Woltemade to Bayern this summer, Bayern has not met the asking price, and Woltemade is holding out for the transfer before the deadline or alternatively aiming for next summer's move [1][2][3][4][5]. The Supercup promises to be an exciting clash, with the transfer saga adding an extra layer of intrigue.
