The new HSV Wellness Hub: Unlocking Fitness and Healing
From conception to consultation - at HSV, there's nothing but a premium health space in-between!
Hand-in-hand with UKE, Philips, and CTP (medical supplies shop), the soccer club inaugurated its spectacular health palace, "Athleticum am Volkspark," on Wednesday. Nestled right in front of the stadium gates, this project is reaching its final stages of completion.
This visionary initiative took shape back in 2020, with the intent to open the doors to this center of sports, fitness, and preventive medicine in the second quarter of 2024.
The facility will boast 40 treatment spaces spread across four levels, covering a generous 4000 square meters! A team of 70 committed professionals, including doctors, sports scientists, and physiotherapists, will cater to the well-being of around 60,000 patients annually.
With the sports legends of HSV at their heart, this center is unmatched. Dr. Götz Welsch, HSV's team doctor (since 2014), assumes the medical lead. Yet, the Athleticum extends its doors to every member of the Hamburg community seeking restorative care.
Who needs an injury here...?
There are numerous unique features that set Athleticum am Volkspark apart. One such highlight is the cutting-edge hydrotherapy pool on the first floor. This marvel from the United States is utilized by numerous professional teams. The pool features an underwater treadmill and counter-current flow system.
The recipient of this modern treatment gains a competitive edge in post-knee and joint injury rehabilitation. While jogging on hard ground would otherwise be impossible, the reduced impact allows for earlier exercise regimens.
The majestic top level offers breathtaking views of the Volksparkstadion. Here, a vast athletic training area awaits. The space incorporates a speed court for cognitive speed training and a whopping 35-meter running track.
Astonishing: the last 10 meters of the track extend onto the rooftop terrace, giving athletes the unforgettable experience of sprinting outdoors during conducive weather conditions.
The sprawling rooftop terrain continues to serve as an additional rehabilitation and athletic training area.
This vibrant environment hosts an impressive array of healthcare services, but major surgeries are not among them. Instead, the venue dedicates specialized facilities for accidents on-the-job. Regrettably, the Athleticum is not fitted with its own operating theater.
Rather, there are five individual examination and treatment spaces designed for multi-day visits, an advanced radiology department, and a smorgasbord of specialist divisions. From sports medicine to ophthalmology.
