Hockey Legend Guy Lafleur's Legacy Lives On

Legendary hockey player Guy Lafleur, fondly known as the 'Flower', made a comeback with the New York Rangers and the Quebec Nordiques before retiring in 1991. Known for his 14-year stint with the Montreal Canadiens, Lafleur helped the team win an impressive five Stanley Cups. Today, several places in Quebec bear his name, including Highway 50 and soon, the new bridge connecting Montreal Island to Île Bizard, which will be named after him. The late Lafleur lived in the Île Bizard neighborhood for 30 years.

Renaming of Parks and Boulevards

The decision to rename Lafond Park in Rosemont-La Petite-Patrie was approved by the executive committee on September 3, 2022. The park is set to be renamed after the late former elected official André Lavallée, who lived near the park for many years and contributed significantly to Montreal's first urban plan in 1992. A boulevard in Montreal will also be renamed after André Lavallée.
