Royals Gather on Palace Balcony for Trooping the Colour

Joining the annual tradition, the British Royal Family graced the balcony of Buckingham Palace on the second weekend in June. King Charles III, at 76, and Queen Camilla, 77, led the pack, adorning military uniforms with black armbands in tribute to the Air India disaster.

Prince William, Kate, and the Kids

Prince William, 42, in uniform, accompanied by an armband, brought his family to the scene. Sons Prince George, 11, and Prince Louis, 7, sported dark blue suits and red ties, while Princess Kate, 43, in an elegant turquoise outfit by Catherine Walker, coordinated with her daughter, 10-year-old Princess Charlotte, who wore a slightly lighter shade of turquoise.

Other notables on the balcony included the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, Sophie in dark green, Princess Anne with her husband, and the Duke of Gloucester and his wife, along with Prince Michael of Kent.

Moment of Silence and Protest

Before taking the stage, the royal family observed a moment of silence for the plane crash victims in Ahmedabad, India, and even the young princes - George, Charlotte, and Louis - showed their respect with bowed heads and folded hands. The festivities had begun with the family members traveling in carriages or on horseback, greeting the admiring crowds, albeit surrounded by "Not my King" protests.

The balcony appearance is typically the highlight of "Trooping the Colour", the monarch's official birthday parade, which is always held on the second weekend to ensure good weather conditions.

King Charles III, clad in military uniform with a black armband, stood alongside Queen Camilla during the Trooping the Colour ceremony, marking the start of a calendar of royal events. Princess Kate, elegantly dressed in a turquoise Catherine Walker outfit, joined her family on the Buckingham Palace balcony, just as Prince George and Prince Louis did, all mirroring the somber tone with their dark blue suits and red ties.
