The Middle Eastern adaptations of the popular singing competition show "The Voice" make their comeback following a six-year hiatus, introducing new panelists.
MBC's productions and regional spin-offs of the Dutch series The Voice are making a comeback, with the adult version, The Voice: Ahla Sawt, and the children's edition, The Voice Kids: Ahla Sawt, set to grace our screens once again.
The latest seasons of The Voice: Ahla Sawt will feature an exciting new judging panel, consisting of Egyptian pop star Ahmed Saad, Iraqi singer Rahma Riad, and Syrian singer Nassif Zeytoun. For The Voice Kids: Ahla Sawt, the judging panel boasts its own share of star power, with Syrian singer Al Shami, Saudi singer Dalia Mubarak, and Egyptian singer Rami Sabry.
Both shows are currently being filmed concurrently at Olivewood Studios in Amman, Jordan, with additional shoots planned at 10 locations across the country. This production marks the largest unscripted television production to take place in Jordan to date.
The four-month shoot is highlighting Jordan's growing strength as a production destination. The Royal Film Commission hopes this production will help position Jordan as a hub for international film and television.
Rahma Riad and Nassif Zeytoun, two members of the judging panels, made their names in the 2010 series of Star Academy Arab World. Nassif Zeytoun even became the first Syrian contestant to clinch the title in this popular show.
The shows, The Voice: Ahla Sawt and The Voice Kids: Ahla Sawt, follow a familiar format consisting of blind auditions, mentoring, and public voting for the overall winner. Over 100 Jordanian crew members are employed in various roles for the production, including cinematographers, sound engineers, lighting specialists, and costume designers.
Tunisian singer Mehdi Ayachi, winner of the last season of The Voice in 2019, remains a popular draw in his homeland and recently released the single Weld Arab. Moroccan singer Hamza Lebyed, winner of The Voice Kids: Ahla Sawt in 2018, continues to perform at music festivals across North Africa.
The production at Olivewood Studios is not just a boost for the Jordanian film industry, but also a testament to the country's potential as a destination for international productions. With its rich history, stunning landscapes, and modern facilities, Jordan offers an attractive backdrop for film and television productions.
