Unveiling the Luggage of the Suspected Gangsters

Investigators are tying a suspected group to Leipzig and have linked their arsenal to a convicted woman named Lina E (28). Their chosen weapons include hammers, batons, pepper spray guns, and thug gloves.

The Budapest authorities have made public their seizure of weapons in a video, which were found on Tobias E (29) from Berlin. He was caught in Budapest during attacks targeting alleged right-wing extremists in February 2023, and has remained in custody since.

The left-wing extremists targeted individuals participating in the so-called "Day of Honor" in Budapest. This event, commemorating the Wehrmacht and the SS, is where right-wing extremists from across Europe gather, with the Wehrmacht and SS attempting to break out of encirclement by the Red Army on February 11, 1945. An estimated 70,000 soldiers participated in this final attack, with only hundreds surviving.

Seized weapons cost around 100 euros, and their rudimentary nature underscores the brutality of the suspected group. Alongside the weapons, other items were found, such as an ochre-colored and a grey cap. Attackers often cover their faces with hats during crimes and switch them as they flee.

The curved hammer

The group's signature weapon is a curved tent hammer with a plastic green handle, weighing only 450 grams. The hook at the handle's end can also be used as a weapon.

Pepperspray pistol

The pistol can be legally purchased as an animal defense device, costing 36.99 euros. The gang uses this weapon to render victims defenseless during attacks, causing their eyes to water and burn, preventing them from fending off blows. The spray gun can reach a distance of up to 4 meters and contains two charges. The jet speed is about 180 km/h.

Telescopic baton

A mini telescopic baton with a non-slip handle and a ribbed surface is another member of their arsenal. The metal baton extends from the handle with the touch of a button, available from security outfitters or military stores for as little as 15 euros.

Quartz sand gloves

Black leather gloves filled with quartz sand protect hand bones and cause greater pain upon impact. These gloves are available online for around 25 euros.

The attack methods

According to Budapest investigators, the group targeted victims who wore military-style clothing or boots. Two Polish men and a woman were injured in the first attack. The group used a consistent method, attacking from behind before striking with telescopic batons and hammers, while also utilizing pepper spray.

The Wanted

New profiles of individuals in their 20s from Thuringia and Bavaria have come to light. These people, including Paula Leoni Pretzel (20) from Jena (Thuringia), have been sought by the Budapest police for grievous bodily harm.

The Weapon Finds

During raids in Budapest, Tobias E (29) was arrested and has been in custody since February 2023. Anne M (26, also from Berlin) was released on bond and charged on October 30, 2023. Both were found to have various weapons on their persons, including a telescopic baton, a rubber mallet, and a pepper spray gun.
