The Leipzig Trade Event is set to break its own records, aiming to rack up over 100 million euros in sales by 2024. Co-CEO Markus Buhl-Wagner proudly proclaimed, "We're shattering the 100-million mark for the first time!" This impressive feat not only recoups the event's pre-pandemic level but surpasses it ever so slightly. In 2019, the event reported sales of 99.6 million euros, while last year's earnings stood at 80.1 million euros.

Geisenberger, the other co-CEO, attributes this growth to improvements in various sectors, not just individual events. The Leipzig Book Fair and trade fairs like OTWorld and PaintExpo all contributed to the event's success in the first half of the year. The UEFA European Football Championship, with Leipzig hosting the International Broadcast Center and serving as the hub for the video referee, gave a significant boost. Conferences have also witnessed positive developments.

The Leipzig Trade Event remains dependent on financial aid from its shareholders, with the Free State of Saxony and the city of Leipzig providing compensations for losses and support for investments. In 2023, the consolidated annual deficit amounted to 5.9 million euros.

Geisenberger aims for the Leipzig Trade Event to consistently generate revenue exceeding 100 million euros in the future. This ambition should be bolstered by acquiring new events and further expansion abroad. The ultimate objective is to become one of the top 30 international trade fair locations worldwide by 2030. At present, Leipzig stands at an approximate 40th place in terms of revenue, according to Geisenberger.

Germany plays a crucial role in the success of the Leipzig Trade Event, bearing partial responsibility with the Free State of Saxony and the city of Leipzig funding its plans for expansion. The event aims to secure a place among the world's top 30 international trade fair locations by 2030, solidifying its position within Germany's ever-growing event industry.
