The Leipzig Trade Event is on a mission to shatter sales records, with a projected income of over 100 million euros by 2024. Co-CEO Markus Buhl-Wagner proclaimed, "We're storming past the 100-million mark for the first time!" This remarkable feat means not only a comeback to pre-pandemic levels but a slight surge over them. The previous peak was 99.6 million euros in 2019, while 2023 earnings totaled 80.1 million euros.

The event's success can be attributed to improvements in various sectors, not just individual events. Co-CEO Geisenberger highlighted the Leipzig Book Fair, OTWorld, and PaintExpo among the successful first-half events. The UEFA European Football Championship, with Leipzig hosting the International Broadcast Center and acting as the hub for the video referee, also played a significant role. The conference business also recorded positive developments.

Aiming high, the Leipzig Trade Event has its sights set on joining the world's top 30. However, the event remains reliant on financial assistance from its shareholders - the Free State of Saxony and the city of Leipzig - which provides compensations for losses and supports investments. In 2023, the consolidated annual deficit amounted to 5.9 million euros.

Credit must go to Co-CEO Geisenberger, who aims to consistently generate revenue of 100 million euros or more in the future. This ambition is bolstered by plans to bring new events on board and seek expansion opportunities abroad. The goal is to globalize the Leipzig Trade Event's business further, ultimately ranking Leipzig among the world's top 30 international trade fair locations by 2030. Currently, Leipzig holds a modest 40th place in terms of revenue.

Germany plays a significant role in the Leipzig Trade Event's success, with its partial funding by the Free State of Saxony and the city of Leipzig. The event's expansion plans aim to position Leipzig among the world's top 30 international trade fair locations by 2030, firmly establishing itself within Germany's dynamic event industry.
