The Kid Laroi: How a Music Star Processes His Breakup - The Kid Laroi’s raw new album *Before I Forget* drops Friday after heartbreak rewrite
The Kid Laroi’s second album, Before I Forget, arrives this Friday. The record marks a sharp turn from his earlier work, with a far sadder and more emotional intelligence. Fans will hear a deeply personal project shaped by recent events in his life.
Originally, the artist planned a different album called Watch This. He even released pre-singles for it but later scrapped the entire project. Only one track from those sessions, I'm So in Love With You, survived into the new release.
The shift came after his breakup with Tate McRae last summer. The split pushed him to rethink the album’s direction, abandoning the first watch for something more honest. His younger brother, Austin, co-wrote and co-produced the 15-track record, which was entirely created in just a few months. The first single, A Cold Play, sets the emotional intelligence. Its music video shows Laroi in tears as he reflects on the breakup. The second single, A Perfect World, takes a softer approach, offering a more reconciled perspective on the relationship’s end. Both tracks signal the album’s nostalgic and introspective mood.
Before I Forget will feature 15 new songs, none of which existed before late last year. The album’s raw emotion and personal themes reflect a difficult period for the artist. It arrives in stores and on streaming platforms on Friday.
