The Importance of Emmy Episode Submissions Discussed: Kathy Bates, Quinta Brunson, and Britt Lower Advocate for Their Cases
The Television Academy has announced the nominees for the 77th Emmy Awards, and the list is filled with familiar faces and exciting newcomers. The awards ceremony, hosted by comedian Nate Bargatze, will be broadcast live on Sunday, Sept. 14 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on CBS.
In the Writing Variety Special category, Your Friend, Nate Bargatze, Adam Sandler: Love You, and The Rehearsal are all nominated. Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg have also received a nod for Directing Comedy, for The Studio on Apple TV+.
The Variety Special Pre-Recorded category sees a nomination for Adam Sandler: Love You, while SNL50: The Anniversary Special on NBC is nominated in the Variety Special Live category, with Beyoncé Bowl being the contender.
In the Directing Variety Series category, Paul Pennolino for Last Week Tonight with John Oliver on HBO Max, and Liz Patrick for SNL50: The Anniversary Special on NBC, are among the nominees.
The Supporting Actress Limited category includes Erin Doherty for Adolescence on Netflix, while Catherine O'Hara receives a nomination for Supporting Comedy Actress for The Studio on Apple TV+.
Cian O'Clery is nominated for Directing Reality for Love on the Spectrum on Netflix, and Guest Comedy Actors Bryan Cranston and Julianne Nicholson are also in the running, both for The Studio on Apple TV+.
In the Drama categories, Kathy Bates, a lead drama actress nominee, has submitted the penultimate 17th episode of Matlock's inaugural season from CBS for consideration. Bella Ramsey, another lead drama actress nominee, has submitted the season two finale "Convergence" from HBO's The Last of Us.
Guest Drama Actress nominee Kaitlyn Dever is up for her role in The Last of Us on HBO Max, and Shawn Hatosy is nominated for Guest Drama Actor for The Pitt on HBO Max.
The Writing Limited, Series category sees a nomination for Adolescence on Netflix, while Writing Drama is contested by Severance on Apple TV+.
The Documentary Special category includes Pee-wee as Himself on HBO Max, and the Documentary Series category features Social Studies. Arcane is nominated for the Animated Program category.
The Competition Program category includes The Traitors on Peacock, and the Structured Reality category features Shark Tank.
The Game Show category has Jeopardy! as a nominee, and the Talk Series category includes The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
The Exceptional Merit category sees a nomination for I Am Celine Dion, and the Unstructured Reality category includes Love on the Spectrum on Netflix.
