The impending return of summer

The German Weather Service (DWD) has predicted a week of summer weather across much of Germany, starting from Thursday, July 7, 2025. According to the DWD's meteorologist, Marco Manitta, the country can expect a mix of warm, sunny days and occasional showers.

On Thursday, the sun will shine almost throughout the country, with temperatures rising into the summer range of 25 to 30 degrees. However, isolated showers could be experienced in the northwest later in the day.

In the north, the weather will remain changeable with scattered showers, brief thunderstorms, and temperatures around 20 degrees. On the contrary, the south of Germany, south of the Main and Mosel rivers, will experience temperatures exceeding 30 degrees. Along the coast, it will be slightly cooler, with temperatures ranging from 20 to 25 degrees.

The beautiful and hot weather is expected to last until Sunday, with the risk of thunderstorms increasing, especially in the west and south of Germany from Friday to Sunday. The meteorologist predicts that local thunderstorms may occur, but the overall impression will remain beautiful.

By the weekend, temperatures are expected to reach around 30 degrees Celsius across the country. However, it's important to note that this summer weather is expected to take some time to warm up, with the heat not being a long-lasting heatwave.

During this period, cities like Hamburg and Cologne saw temperatures reaching around 37°C (98.6°F), but these high temperatures appeared in short bursts rather than a prolonged heatwave. The Alps region, for example, had milder summer weather with average daytime temperatures around 22°C (72°F) and cooler nights at 11°C (53°F) in July, with frequent rainfall. Places like Munich and Düsseldorf had more variable conditions, with generally warm but not necessarily extreme weather during July 2025.

In summary, the summer heat in Germany during July 7 to July 11, 2025, was marked by episodes of intense heat but was not necessarily a long-lasting heatwave. The period had hot days interspersed with more moderate or variable weather, depending on the location.

The weather forecast for the upcoming week in Germany matches the predictions, as a warm and sunny summer weather persists across most regions, starting from July 7, 2025. However, isolated showers could sporadically disrupt this beautiful weather, particularly in the northwest and western parts of the country.
