The Hunger Games Comes to Life on London Stage This October
A stage adaptation of the hit film and book series 'The Hunger Games' is set to debut in London this October. The production, titled 'The Hunger Games: On Stage', will star Mia Carragher as Katniss Everdeen and feature appearances from renowned actor John Malkovich as President Coriolanus Snow. The show will open at the new Troubadour Canary Wharf Theatre on October 20, 2023.
The production is the brainchild of Runaway Entertainment, Isobel David, Timothy Laczynski, and Umeda Arts Theater, and is adapted from the first book and film of Suzanne Collins' series by Conor McPherson, with direction by Matthew Dunster. The story follows Katniss' journey as she fights for survival and leads a rebellion against the Capitol in a dystopian future.
The Troubadour Canary Wharf Theatre, a state-of-the-art venue with 1,200 seats, has been designed specifically to host this production. The theatre will feature a unique stage setup that incorporates filmed performances, with John Malkovich's portrayal of President Snow appearing on screen at every show. Other cast members include Euan Garrett, Joshua Lacey, and Tamsin Carroll.
The Hunger Games: On Stage is produced by Oliver Royds, Tristan Baker, and Charlie Parsons for Runaway Entertainment, in arrangement with Lionsgate. With its unique blend of live theatre and filmed performances, this adaptation promises to bring a fresh and exciting take on the beloved story to London audiences.
