The Unforgettable Hammer from Herrmann
What a bloody fantastic moment for Tim Herrmann!
Scoring against his old club Freiburg, in front of 30,000 lovers of the sport, under the watchful eyes of the K-Block, with his whole damn family cheering from the stands - nobody could have scripted it better.
"It's bloody brilliant, it feels bloody amazing," Herrmann grinned afterwards. "It was a split-second decision, a bit of gut feeling too."
And it was his first competitive goal for Dynamo, no easy feat.
He wasn't too long ago on the sidelines, dealing with cartilage damage in his knee. Hell, he even thought his career might be over.
"I'm ecstatic that things are going my way, that I can play stably. Goals are just the cherry on top," Herrmann admitted.
His coach wouldn't disagree.
"I'm chuffed that the lad's found his feet again and can play football," Anfang said. "Maybe he'll now be recognized for his perseverance."
There's even a chance he could be Goal of the Month for November on ARD's sports show.
"It was a brilliant goal. I'd be over the moon if he won it," Anfang said. "But first, he needs to make the cut."
The eligible goals will be nominated at the end of the month. If his makes the list, and fans vote for him, Herrmann could join an esteemed club of Dynamo professionals who've won Goal of the Month.
Six Dynamos who've won Goal of the Month
- Uwe Rösler (1992), Thomas Rath (1994), Klemen Lavric (2004), Pascal Testroet, Justin Eilers (both 2016) and Patrick Schmidt (2020) were previously chosen as Goal of the Month.
Dynamo Dresden's own hero is in the running to add his name to this list.
