🔥 Hot Off the Press: Berlin's Crackdown on Immigration 🔥

The German political arena has been abuzz with the latest move by the Interior Committee. The coalition, consisting of the CDU/CSU, SPD, and even the AfD, has given the green light to a proposed bill that aims to put a halt on family reunification for individuals with subsidiary protection for a period of two years. The Greens and The Left, however, have voiced their dissent and the final debate is set to unfold in the Bundestag plenary this Friday.

The proposed law is reminiscent of a similar suspension enacted back in 2016, which temporarily halted family reunification for those with subsidiary protection, under the "Act on the Introduction of Accelerated Asylum Procedures". This suspension initially lasted for two years and underwent several extensions, eventually settling at a monthly limit of 1,000 visas.

This latest move also encompasses a more ambitious goal - to reintroduce the limitation of immigration into the Residence Act, a shift that had been absent since 2023. The act, which primarily focuses on control, will now be seen to prioritize immigration limitation as well, aiming to clarify that "the Residence Act is not solely about control, but also about limiting immigration."

With these changes, it seems that German policies are taking a more conservative stance, aimed at tightening immigration rules and deterring irregular migration. Keep your eyes peeled for further developments in this evolving story!

The general-news surrounding this issue indicates a shift in politics towards a more conservative approach in German policy-and-legislation, emphasizing policy changes aimed at tightening immigration rules and reducing irregular migration.
